Frequently Asked Questions

This project will extend the existing 20-inch Master Lift Station No. 5 Force Main approximately 10,113 linear feet along Cortez Road to Master Lift Station No. 1-M to relieve capacity issues on the existing 24-inch gravity main that runs along the north side of Cortez Road.

Both a gravity main and a force main are pipeline systems designed to convey wastewater between two points. While a gravity main system allows wastewater to flow using the natural force of gravity, a force main system requires a mechanical pump or compressors to create pressure which then pushes the wastewater to its final destination. These pumps or compressors are located within lift stations that are positioned along the pipeline system.

The project is located on Cortez Road West between 119th Street West and 87th Street Court West.

The design and pre-construction cost is $976,500. The construction cost is $9.6 million.

The funding sources for this project include Debt Proceeds and Utility Rates.

Woodruff & Sons Inc. is the contractor for the project.

The 60% design plans were submitted in March 2022. Construction is anticipated to begin spring 2023.
